acid washing.

if you liked my weird black/brown jeans here is how to do it:

1. wet your item in a sink/bucket (it's fun to do this outside on a sunny day). it's best to acid wash things that are cotton/denim and that are coloured. Purple turns out as a pretty fuschia colour, grey can become yellowy green (khaki-ish), and grey marle becomes pink. BEWARE: BLACK ALWAYS BECOMES ORANGEY BROWN.

2. squirt some bleach (don't dilute it) onto your 'wet' item and liberally rub the bleach in. (i did this with my friends and we all rubbed at the same time, it was quite funny - especially dressing up in gloves and aprons and stuff). make sure you rub the bleach in really hard. sometimes the bleaching doesn't appear to be working at first - sometimes it takes a while for the colour to process. if ever you think you have poured too much bleach on, don't rub it in; just dunk it in water.

3. let the colour process. once you're happy chuck it in the washing machine and then dry it. the dryer locks in the colour faster, it may still process if it is being line dryed.

4. wear it! use this method to acid wash t-shirts, jeans, jean jackets, hoodies and jersey-rayon fabrics. but make it beknown this way does not make 'commercial acid washing'. the effect is entirely different and much more grungey. good luck.

80s fur jacket.

Okay, so how crazy is this? It looks as though you went to a farm and literally stole the fur off the back of a cow. Homey or what? Possibly, slightly caveman like. But hey? This is 5000 year old vintage (reincarnated of course) - this is gold. It costs 95 pounds from topshop (which I wouldn't pay - for my bank account's sake). But, if I was to buy it, I would definitely wear it with a black bodycon dress or a sequined t-shirt, small floral skirt, over-the-knee socks and some black buckled shoes. I think I want to buy this...

Or maybe I could retreat to my regular piggybank depot and cash in on a similar furry monster to cover my back + shoulders. Either way, I will be jealous of any fur wearer I see and maybe will steal the fur off their back...

first fashion shoot.

Of course once my docs arrived I had to wear them and what better way than to have a fashion shoot!! I photographed most of them with a self timer and the camera resting on a pot or the bench... risky, I know. Tell me which photos and outfits you like the best. :)

the arrival.

It was the most anticipated arrival - ever - for anything I have ever bought on eBay. Sad as it sounds; it is quite true. As soon as I saw the parcel I began screaming and jumping (as I promised), it was very exciting. And what's best, is that they make my feet look really small for some strange reason.

moschino cheap & chic.

I must admit I did not appreciate the entire collection as a whole. The technicolour explosions of dresses and shaggy fringing didn't phase me as particularly appropriate. But, I loved seperate concoctions made up of the perfect mix of tuxedo chic and ultra-fem. My favourites are these monotonal ensembles, accentuated with candy pink and yellows.



I love the frilly collar on this pretty polka dot tea dress. Perfectly classic but with a modern twist. I can imagine this dress on women of all ages. Perhaps worn more demurely with a pair of Bloch ballet flats and a lengthened hem by a 40-year-old. Or worn London street style with shockingly bright, pink tights and a quirky top hat by a young girl of the courageous sort.



Although I'm sure I have seen something similar of the sort, you can't fail to agree that this dress makes you smile. It's cute and flirty whilst being demure and adrogynous. It's the type of all-occassion dress that is expressive and memorable. It can be worn down with a big, colourful bow on your head or dressed up with black tights, booties and a feathery fascinator for the races.



These little frilly cullotes and puffy blouse are gorgeous. I love the cute little cut out on the shirt and the big bowtie which ties in the masculinity. This outfit reminds me of Karl Lagerfeld, monotonal and chic and directional, but what brings it back to Moschino is the shock of colour in the gorgeous brogues. I'll definitely be trying to recreate this look with my own wardrobe and encourage you to do so too.

schoolgirl of the past.

Look at them. Imagine their 70' leather strapping around my skinny little feet. The thought sends shivers down my spine. They are so old that my mum never wore anything like them (*gasp*). What I love about these is their 'schoolgirliness' factor. They seem broad and delicate - if that can be possible. I can imagine cool, vintagey 20-year-olds walking these down complex spiderwebs of lanes. Wearing nothing but them and a floral dress. Then, I can imagine them on me, geekily clad with nerdy glasses, short shorts and a button up shirt (+ tie) wearing the shoes tightly buckled around faun or grey ankle socks. Taking 70's schoolgirl to the extreme. In 25 years or so, can you imagine young girls like me, wanting to wear our generation's school shoe of choice? Wearing t-bars out of school, would be cool? Maybe they'll wear our emblemed blazers with cut off shorts? How about our school dresses? This could be the future of vintage, however way it takes us. I'm sure one girl will be wearing these type of things day in day out, but not as uniform. The future of dressing is untold, but I am attempting to uncover it by using evidence from the past.

DMs.

I get that feeling, whenever I see them. I get tingles. The typical type of feeling someone my age would feel when they see a 'cute guy' (:S). It is type of lust a vampire has for human blood. This is the strong loving relationship I feel for Dr. Martens. I don't know what it is. Should it be their ugliness? Their typical fashioniness? Their love for their owners? These shoes are comparable to petty, petty lovers. They please you and love you and care for you like a dumb, obedient dog (not that I object to this). I think it is the knowledge of their dependability that makes them attractive. Their edginess and masculinity makes you crave them. It's your craving to relive the days of the 90's you never experienced that makes them so wanted. This is why I just bought a pair of vintage, heeled, cherry red docs. The cross of feminity and adrogyny makes a sweet sensation perfectly complimenting 'college student' style duffle coats and skater skirts. I can't wait to find them in my mailbox, so I can jump up and down in them and make people jealous.

the beginning.

Forgive me for being wrong or unobjectional. I'm here to characterise the world of fashion. I may not be from some wunderkind land where unrealistically wonderful dreams miraculously come true but I do live in reality; a place where dreams can come true, if you work hard to acheive them. This is the bottom, an empty place filled with loneliness but also filled with hope. This is the bottom of the rabbit hole, this is where I start...
